Welcome to Jodi Sinatra Design.

Are you a small to mid-sized business who's heard great things about Canva and wondered if it's worth the hype? Can anybody use it? And what do designers think?

Well, this designer noticed that she's been saving designs as inspiration (as we all do, I use Pinterest of course) and many have turned out to be from Canva. So, I signed up and checked it out.
I recently created a flyer for one of my clients so I decided to load their brand into Canva, took the content from their flyer, found a couple of Canva templates that would work well and adapted them. What do you thing, how did I do? The original is on the left, then the template, then the adapted template on the right.

Ok, you may notice that there is a lot of text in my flyer, and not in the templates, this happens a lot. If you use the same amount of text on your flyer that is in the template provided (or close) you'll be fine. It's also very easy to delete stuff and replace with a new type block.

You can do it yourself. Especially if you start with a helping hand; Canva fully loaded, pre-started, with training wheels.

What? Canva has this great thing where you can load in all your branding stuff; your logos, fonts, colors, patterns, icons, etc..

I can do that for you and more: If you don't have branding stuff I can create it, and I can set up a folder system within Canva to start you off organized AND I can create some pieces for you (flyer, social post, post card, resume, infographic, your choice) so that you can see your brand in action, get you rolling. Training wheels? That's me, on the phone, ready to help you!

I can also be your on call designer for a flat monthly fee at Your Design Department, check it out!

About me.

Designing has always come naturally to me, I could always nudge my school reports up a grade or two by knocking the design out of the park. When I went to college I would learn that the things that I just did automatically had terms like proximity, division and ‘the rule of thirds’ (I studied photography as well).

After graduating from Fitchburg State College I spent the next several years honing my skills, first at a marketing agency in Boston then as a corporate and nonprofit freelancer all over the country. I am great at stepping in to established brands as if I've been there all along, like a double dutch jump rope, remember those? I can make things seamlessly match or creatively transcend, it's all wicked fun for me.

I am a senior level designer with over 20 years of experience, an expert in print design, InDesign layout and pre-press, and a pro at digital ads, social media posts, user interfaces and web graphics.

I have been designing for the web since early days, hardwired with the knowledge that comes from being the single designer in a college class full of programmers giving you the side-eye in the only web design class.

My clients have been in education, finance, technology, fin-tech, e-commerce, STEM, the arts, government, and retail.

I love working from my home on the south shore of Massachusetts where I make digital and analog art, take nature walks with my camera and am pretty much always available to work. I also rescue senior cats and welcome pro-bono work.
